Privacy Policy

The Press and Information Office of the Federal Government takes the protection of personal data extremely seriously. We would like you to know what data we gather, when we do so, and how it is used. We take every technical and organisational precaution to ensure that not only the Press Office itself but also all external service providers comply with data protection regulations.

Personal data

Personal data can be used to establish your identity. These include your name, address, postal address and telephone number. Information which cannot be used to identify you (e.g. number of visitors to a website) is not classed as personal data. You can make use of our online services without disclosing your identity.

If you order information or sign up for e-magazines or leaflets, we will ask you for your name and other personal information. It is up to you whether or not you disclose this information. All data provided will be stored on specially protected servers in Germany. A very small number of specially authorised individuals have access to the data. They are responsible for the technical, commercial or editorial management of the servers.

In conjunction with your access, data will be stored on our servers for security purposes for a maximum of 24 hours. These could be used for identification purposes (e.g. IP address, date, time and websites accessed). The IP addresses will then be given a pseudonym. They will not be used to identify users. Neither will direct personal user profiles or user profiles using a pseudonym be compiled. We reserve the right to compile anonymous data sets for statistical analysis.

Passing on personal data to third parties

We will only use your personal information for orders placed inside the Press and Information Office of the Federal Government and within the company contracted with shipping your order. Without your express authorisation, your data will not be passed on to third parties. Where we are required to do so by law or by the ruling of a court, we will pass on information to the pertinent agencies.

Use of cookies

The website of our ordering service for brochures uses a cookie, which is active for the duration of your visit to that website. For technical reasons this is essential for the shopping basket function.

You can deactivate the storage of cookies or set your browser to notify you as soon as cookies are sent.

Protection of minors

Children and young people under the age of 18 should not send us any personal data without the authorisation of their parents or guardians. We do not require any personal data relating to children. Neither will information of this sort be collected or passed on to third parties.

Links to other websites

Our online services contain links to other websites. We have no influence over the operators of these websites and their compliance with data protection regulations.
